Arlette is Special Counsel at Paxton-Hall Lawyers and a member of the dispute resolution team. She is a highly experienced commercial litigator with more than 25 years’ experience as a barrister, mediator and civil magistrate in South Africa and was admitted as a solicitor in Australia in 2024.

Experience

Before relocating to Brisbane, Arlette appeared in the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court of Appeal, High Court and Magistrates Court in South Africa, acting in complex commercial matters for major organisations. Her practice spanned corporate, insolvency, construction, contractual and regulatory disputes, as well as high-value shareholder and creditor matters.

Her experience includes large-scale contractual and corporate disputes, urgent injunctive proceedings, oppression remedy matters, director disqualification applications, insolvency challenges and business interruption claims. She has also conducted commercial mediations and arbitrations and has acted in succession disputes involving allegations of undue influence and lack of capacity.

At Paxton-Hall, Arlette works closely with Director Sharon Winn on commercial litigation, dispute resolution, insurance matters and complex recovery proceedings, bringing deep technical expertise and strategic insight to the team.

Arlette holds an LLM in Company Law from the University of South Africa, an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a BA in International Relations and Law. She has completed an internationally accredited commercial mediation program at Stellenbosch University Business School and is an accredited mediator in Australia.
